Hold on to 5 star Featured Crystals and Featured Pool?

If you buy a 5-star Featured Crystal for a certain champ and there are X amount of champs in the current Featured pool, if you hold on to the crystal and open the crystal later when the Featured pool is smaller and has Y amount of champs, will the Featured pool have X champs or Y champs?
For example. I buy a 5-star Featured Crystal for Morningstar. Currently, the Featured pool has Carnage in it. If I open after Carnage is placed in the 5-star Basic pool. Will it guarantee that I do not pull Carnage?
