Blade came out in a time where Mystics and MD ran AW, with villains in general as a secondary force. He countered every single one of them. When he came out, he was the end-all champion. And based on synergies, you could shut down almost all of the really annoying mechanics in the game. Even nodes. Dormammu, Magik, Juggs, Mephisto, all come to mind as the annoying defenders back then. I think Mephisto came out the same month.

Lately there are defenders hes not perfect against, but can still help. Medusa has a lot of time where you're waiting out her autoblock. Blade can still bleed her if shes not on an immune node. Even though its not perfect, and there are better answers, hes still damaging her.

This doesn't even touch on the fact he has regen on command. I don't really know of another champion that will heal every time you do a certain action. Some champions, like Wolvie, will heal a lot, but its RNG when it pops up, and it leads to conspiracy theories about him being nerfed, buffed, etc. With blade, you can heal whenever you want up to 71% by holding block. Something always missed here IMO is against unstunnable enemies, if you're caught blocking a few attacks, block damage doesn't always matter because you'll be healing anyway.

Couple all that with gaining power by bleeding opponents and he is a top 3 champ in the game IMO. I have a r5 5*, as well as sparky. Right now, from what I've seen, top 3 in any order is Blade, Sparky, and Corvus.

Add on that you can only heal while you have power in your power bar.

Ah yes, sometimes I get to rambling and forget the simple things. Thanks.

His synergies also play into his value.

He just happens to synergize with two of the most highly-desirable champs in the game: Ghost Rider and Stark Spider-man.

Ghost Rider is a utility powerhouse with bleed immunity, regen, power control, bleed, fury, nullify...seemingly everything. His synergy with Blade takes GR from "Great" to "Amazing". All of GR's abilities have a 100% chance to trigger with Blade, and Blade receives the aforementioned Danger Sense against all villains, not just Dimensional Beings. With this, Blade's attack rating nearly doubles with no effort and ability accuracy is significantly reduced.

Stark Spidey is already a heavy hitter (one of the strongest in the game) with a ton of utility (power drain, auto evade, special evasion, taunt). With the synergy, Spidey starts with 3 poise charges, making him noticeably stronger at the start of the fight with no additional effort. Blade gets a boost to his Danger Sense ability accuracy reduction, which is now working on nearly 50% of the fights thanks to the GR synergy. This one loses some points in my mind as the two champs don't make sense as a synergy team. Spider-man rarely interacts with Blade in the comics and the movie version of Spidey never has....but that fact doesn't change the effectiveness in this game.

Finally, look at the classes in this trinity. You'll never be at a disadvantage. Mutants should be strong against Blade, but Stark Spidey has an advantage against mutants. Cosmics are strong against Stark Spidey, but Ghost Rider takes them out with ease. Science champs are good against GR, but Blade gets an advantage against them. This team doesn't really have a bad matchup.

Finally, Ghost Rider and Blade both have very high prestige. In this case, you don't have to choose between performance and prestige. With these champs, you have both.
