Synergies for 4* and 5* champs

For as long as I've played MCOC I always thought 4* and 5* versions of champs both had all available synergies for said champs. Just found out today 5* IWIM has an awesome synergy that the 4* version doesn't have. As far as i know he's the only champ where the 4* version doesn't have all available synergies. Is this intended? Also are there any others i dont know about where the 5* has extra synergies the 4* doesn't?

    there are a lot of 5*s with synergies their 4* versions don’t have. Especially the newer champions.
