I need some help (upgradeable heroes)

Every 5 stars I opened were very bad. They're heroes. Which ones should I upgrade for alliance war(attack/def), alliance quest and events. With which heroes can I beat the collector?

What do you mean by "heroes"? Do you just want to rank villains?
