I’m kinda new to Marvel Champions. Is there a method when I get an area crystal to get 4 star champions?

Arena crystals are purchased with Battlechips, and battlechips are basically earned by winning fights in arena events. Those crystals mostly contain ISO-8 (which is used to upgrade the rank of champions), Units (the in-game currency of the game) and gold (also used primarily to upgrade the rank of champions). They (very) rarely contain 3* and 4* Punisher (the uncollected version contains 5* Punisher) as the only champions you can earn from that crystal. It is not a good way to earn 4* champions (arena grinding in general is considered a good way to earn rewards in general for those with the time, just not 4* champs).

Mostly, you get 4* champions by purchasing the 4* crystal with 4* fragments: 2000 = one 4* crystal. You get 4* crystal fragments from completing certain content, but eventually most of them will likely come from duplicating 3* champions. When you receive a champion you already have, that "dup" either awakens the signature ability of that champ, or increases the signature level if that champ is already awakened. You also generally get fragments for the next higher star-tier crystal. So duping 2* champs gets you 3* fragments, duping 3* fragments gets you 4* champs and so on.

PS: do not buy crystals that contain champions with cash or units. Never ever ever buy such a crystal. The value for the money or units is virtually always bad. Only buy champion crystals using fragments that form those crystals. Only buy champion containing crystals with cash or units if you are made of money or are trying to buy your way into mobile gaming heaven.

do you mean a 4* out of the arena crystal? there's only one champion, which is the punisher

You can't get iso-8 out of an arena crystal unless I'm mistaken

Sorry I meant hero crystals. I’ve been getting a lot of 1* and 2* champions. I thought maybe there was a timing thing or something to get a 3* or better.

There is no "magic timing" to get better champs, despite what all the videos on YouTube say.

Purely RNG my dude. No rhyme or reason to the champs you get out of a crystal. Just got to pray to a higher being

If you literally mean hero crystals, and it sounds like it because you are saying you're getting 1* champs from them, then they only contain 1* and 2* champions if I recall correctly. There's no way to get anything better from them. I recommend not buying them at all.

Premium hero crystals have a chance at 2*, 3*, and 4* champions, but not 1*. You shouldn't buy those either with units: just open the ones you get as normal rewards.

Premium hero crystals are your best shot at getting 3*s now, that and doing story quest. Do NOT spend units on them, play arena and you will get a sizeable amount of premium hero crystal shards. 2k shards = one phc. Just about luck, there’s no “secret trick”

Thanks. I shouldn’t be too disappointed about the star quality I’ve been getting because I finally got enough shards to get a 5* Red Skull.
