Why didnt they just put a greater greater crystal for 20k shards that just gave 5* or 6* shards, t2as or t5bc shards
Having seen the adjusted difficulty, I believe the original intent was for this event to have moderate difficulty with moderate rewards so a large percentage of the players would be able to get most of the rewards. And then they missed their difficulty mark by an almost astronomical level.
The devs didn't just wake up and realize they made the event too hard, nor did they suddenly get swayed by forum posts regarding the difficulty. That's just not how game devs in general and this dev team in particular work. Historical evidence demonstrates they are a data driven dev team much like most are. Given the sudden downgrade in difficulty and the huge amount of the downgrade, my conclusion is that they saw the game data and saw a huge amount of player event failures and/or a lot of giving up on the event - player disengagement due to difficulty. Those numbers must have been almost scarily high: I would guess they started off very high, and then got even worse when the second stone was far weaker than the first one.
That's the sort of thing that compels devs to make changes. It is almost certainly what compelled them to nerf the Sentinels in AQ, two weeks after they were added. My feeling is that difficulty for the top two tiers of the event has been slashed by between 65% and 80% overall. That's a gigantic reduction, and it suggests the completion rate for this event should be really high, far higher than I think we all know it actually is.
Shouldn't it be alarming that it took them looking at completion rate to figure out the event was not what they intended? That seems like something that most mid to endgame players could have deduced by running through the event once or twice. What good is data if they don't know how to apply the results to future events?
Supposedly, there are groups of players who provide periodic advice/input on the game. I would guess events like this one either aren’t discussed with player advisors or, if they are, their advice is disregarded.
I would find it hard to believe that anyone who plays the game beyond a rudimentary level would think this event’s structure, demands and rewards payout would be appealing.
I gotta say, I'm a little disappointed collecting all six stones didn't unlock some additional ability or boost. Not surprised, just a little disappointed.

The disappointment is so much more with this event. The RNG is the worst part as you will never know what you get with the crystals. I have just about gathered as much as I can and still no 5* awakening gem. So disappointing. I notice that Kabam is giving shards when spending money. Really? I will not spend money on this game because it has become so shady. I still have the offer for the credits daily card. Won't even do that.
It is one thing to provide an offer that will get you an opportunity to advance quicker right away but another thing to provide an offer that may or may not benefit you. I just hope that people do not get sucked in like an addicted gambler trying to get a 5* awakening Gem and spend beyond their means.
wow. my post got deleted. Between my two accounts and doing almost everything but some of the ranking and the dungeons (so tediously boring), I've opened about 20 or so crystals, maybe more. I forget. Only two were 5* based with minimal T2a shards and some 5* sig stones. The rest was pure junk. 3 alphas, 10k gold led the way for most pulls. got 50k gold once and then 4* sig stones.
When they start limiting who you can bring to a quest, how can they put 4* based rewards in a greater crystal. If your top crystals aren't going to help people with the champs they have to bring to quests, what's the point of having a "greater" crystal in the first place? And then, as mentioned, as people to pay to get more shards only to be subjected to RNG. Guaranteed level of rewards I can see, but not a high probability of random junk you don't need.
The whole month was just one of the most disappointing in a long long time, especially when it rode the coattails of an excellent movie. A lot of time and effort for the worst non helpful rewards. On top of ranking I didn't even care to do for champs I'll never use.
I've not talked to a single person who thoroughly enjoyed this month's side quest. It's really a shame considering it coincides with the biggest Marvel movie, and possibly biggest movie, in history.
Double shame because it was so long and drawn out. I wouldn't have minded at all if we had an extra two weeks of bounty missions or Trials of the King/Mad Titan style quests. This event was just bad.
I'm curious to know how Kabam feels about this month's event.
