Turning gold into units

Hi. I am fairly new to this game so I apologize for asking this. Is there ever an opportunity/event to exchange gold for units?

Sorry, nope. Gold is sort of the low level of currency in the game.

If there was, it would be 100000 gold for 10 units or something like that.
