Champion Spotlight - Namor

The Mutant King of Atlantis - About Namor:
The short-tempered Mutant King of Atlantis will stop at nothing to crush anyone and anything that threatens his Kingdom and its people. No matter who you are or what your intentions may have been.

Namor’s MECHANICS:
  • Namor is a highly offensive attacker. He passively generates stacks of Outrage over time and whenever he fails to apply a Debuff to his Opponent. Once his Outrage reaches a certain threshold he can activate IMPERIUS REX, granting him an instant burst of Power and allowing him to activate multiple special attacks back to back.

Character Class: Mutant
Basic Abilities: IMPERIUS REX, Outrage, Fury, Stun, Regeneration

Abilities:
Medium Attacks:
  • 30% chance to inflict Bleed dealing 347.7 Direct Damage over 6 seconds.
Outrage:
  • Namor can have a maximum of 30 stacks of Outrage.
  • Every 3 seconds Namor gains 1 Outrage. Each time Namor is affected by a Stun Debuff, he reduces the time between each Outrage generated by 0.50 seconds. Once Namor activates IMPERIUS REX the timer is reset back to 3 seconds.
  • Namor gains 1 Outrage whenever he is affected by a Bleed or Incinerate Debuff
  • Namor gains 1 Outrage whenever he fails to apply a Bleed or Stun Debuff to the Opponent, or whenever the Opponent Purifies a Debuff.
  • Namor does not generate Outrage when failing to apply Bleed Debuffs to Robots. He does not hold them responsible for their lack of blood.
Developer notes: Namor excels against Bleed and Stun Immune Champions. The faster he generates Outrage the quicker he can enter IMPERIUS REX and unleash all sorts of pain on his enemies.

IMPERIUS REX:
  • If Namor has 15 stacks of Outrage he can Dash Back and hold Block for 1.2 seconds to instantly gain 1 bar of Power and activate IMPERIUS REX
  • If Namor has 30 stacks of Outrage he instantly generates up to 95% of his Max Power and activates IMPERIUS REX
  • Namor's Special Attacks deal up to 240% additional damage based on active stacks of Outrage.
  • Special Attacks cost 90% less Power. However, Namor Drains 15% of a bar of Power every second. Each Special Attack Namor launches applies an additional Drain of 5% per second.
  • While Imperious Rex is active Namor cannot gain Power from any sources other than his own abilities.
  • Once Namor has 0 Power remaining, all stacks of outrage are removed and IMPERIUS REX ends.
Developer notes: To make activating Special attacks easier Namor has a 1 second window between when IMPERIUS REX is activated and when the Power Drain comes into effect. When activating IMPERIOUS REX by reaching 30 stacks of Outrage, try and set it up in a way where Namor is in the middle of a combo so he quickly rounds off that final 5% of a bar of Power before the drain starts up.

HEAVY ATTACKS:
  • While IMPERIUS REX is active, launching a Heavy Attack consumes 15 stacks of Outrage and generates 100% of a bar of Power.
Developer notes: The Power from this ability is granted in the instant you release your finger from the screen and launch the Heavy Attack. The drain from IMPERIUS REX is constant so the window of time is tight, but with practice you can chain up to three Special 3’s in a row, each one granting a 300% Fury for 20 seconds.

SPECIAL ATTACKS
  • Namor Regenerates 6% of his missing health.

SPECIAL 1: To the Point
  • Namor propels himself and his trident forward in a violent whirlpool of waves, destroying everything in his path.
  • Each hit has a 50% chance to inflict a Bleed dealing 1159 Direct Damage over 8 seconds.
  • While IMPERIUS REX is active, Namor generates twice as much Outrage from all sources for the duration of this Special Attack.
Developer Note: This attack has 5 hits, each one with a chance of failing a bleed, making it Namor’s bread and butter combo ender. Since IMPERIUS REX generates so much Power for him, the number one priority should be building Outrage as quickly as possible.

Special 2: Slam Dunk
  • Namor leaps into the air then lobs his Trident into the Earth, creating an explosive geyser of water before landing a final devastating blow on his bewildered Opponent.
  • Each hit has a 50% chance to inflict Stun lasting 2.50 seconds.
  • While IMPERIUS REX is active this attack is Unblockable.
Developer note: This is a 3 hit Special Attack best used during IMPERIOUS REX. An Unblockable Stun makes connecting any other Special Attacks within IMPERIUS REX way easier to achieve. However, the duration of the Stun is set up in a way that you can only combo off of this attack if the Stun occurred on the final hit. With the right Mastery set up it is possible to extend the duration of the Stun so Namor can land a combo if the Stun occurred on the second hit.

Special 3: Might of Neptune
  • Namor unleashes the full power of Neptune’s Trident, summoning an ocean in places where oceans do not belong.
  • Gain Fury increasing Attack Rating by 3477 for 20 seconds. While this Fury is active, Namor’s Opponents gain 0 Power when struck by Special Attacks.
Developer note: The Special 3 is best used directly after initiating IMPERIUS REX to ensure Namor’s Opponents don’t receive any power when struck by his future Special Attacks. Skilled Namor players will be able to use the Power gained from Heavy Attacks to launch multiple Special 3’s back to back.

Signature Ability: Hydrokinetic Armor
  • Namor uses his Hydrokinetic powers to protect his strikes from opponents who deal damage when struck by the Sub-Mariner
  • Namor takes 100% reduced damage from all sources while attacking his Opponent. When Namor ends an Attack, any damage prevented by Hydrokinetic Armor is captured and set back to the Opponent as Energy Damage.
Developer note: Any damage received between the beginning and end of Namors attacks are instead dealt back to his Opponent. The original target of this ability was Thorns characters such as Korg and Killmonger. However, it’s usefulness does extend to things such as suicide masteries or any damage over time effects Namor is suffering from.

SYNERGY BONUSES
Kings of the World: Kingpin, Black Panther, King Groot
  • Each member of this Synergy increases the teams Special Attack damage by +12% for as long as they are alive (max 36%).
  • Unique Synergy: Does not stack with duplicate synergies.

Beach Bods: Drax, Beast, Hulk
  • All Champions: Each member of this Synergy increases the teams Attack Rating by +8% for as long as they are alive (max 24%).
  • Unique Synergy: Does not stack with duplicate synergies.

Tide to Go: Moon Knight
  • Namor: Under a Full or New Moon, attacking or being attacked by Bleeding Opponents grants 5% of a bar of Power with each Strike. As the Moon waxes and wanes, Attack Rating is increased by 15%.
  • Moon Knight: Under a Full or New Moon, Power Gain Rate is increased by 10%. As the Moon waxes and wanes, Bleed and Fury Potency is increased by 15%.
  • Unique Synergy: Does not stack with duplicate synergies.

Romance LV. 3: Invisible Woman
  • All Champions gain +5% Power Gain

ENEMIES LV. 3: Magneto
  • All Champions gain +155 Critical Rating.

Friends LV. 3: Magneto
  • All Champions gain +5% Attack.

RECOMMENDED MASTERIES
Double Edge and Liquid Courage
  • If Namor is awakened, while attacking he captures any damage he received and applies it to his Opponent, which includes any damage received by suicide Masteries. As long as Namor can enter IMPERIUS REX often and launch multiple Special Attacks, the regeneration should negate the negative effects from Double Edge and Liquid Courage.
Recoil
  • Putting a single point into Recoil will enhance Namor’s Special Attack damage quite significantly. The loss of Health is minimal when considering Namor’s Special Attack regenerate his health.
Willpower
  • The regeneration effects provided by Willpower will help offset the constant damaging effects from any Suicide Masteries.

STRENGTHS
  • Namor generates Outrage whenever he fails to apply a Bleed or Stun Debuff on his Opponent, making him a great choice for any Bleed or Stun Immune Champion or Quest Path. All of his damage comes from entering a maintaining IMPERIUS REX for as long as possible.
  • At max SIG, not only does Namor take no damage from thorns attacks, but he actually dishes it back out to his Opponent. All star defenders such as Korg will be short work for Namor.
WEAKNESSES
  • Namor doesn’t generate any Outrage when failing to bleed Robot Champions, making it very difficult for him to properly build up his Stacks of Outrage and enter IMPERIUS REX. He can use his Special 2’s Stun Debuffs and his natural generation of Outrage to get there eventually, but the process will take much more time.
  • Namor needs to watch out for any Power draining effects while IMPERIUS REX is active. IMPERIUS REX will see to it that Namor generates tons of Power instantly but while it’s active, if his Power runs out he needs to start from scratch.

Will his signature ability also deal damage back from Yellow Jacket's power sting when Namor would use a special or does his signature ability only count towards basic attacks?

I believe that he will reflect that damage if he activates his Special Attack after landing a hit in a Combo. So make sure you combo into that Special!

    @Kabam Miike Can Namor's SP3 fury stack?

Here's a way to counter imperius rex. You need a cap iw, somebody for the tech synergy, and if prefered, another tech champ. Then fight namor with a tech champ. Whenever imperius rex activates, and namor uses a special attack, he will instantly lose all of his power, and cancel imperius rex. One problem solved.

That would be 5% Attack. We've updated the spotlight to clarify this.

@Kabam Miike If you were running with suicides would his signature reflect the damage from recoil as well?

No, because that damage occurs after the Special Attack has finished.

Doesn’t Namor also regenerate 6% of his missing health when activating a special attack? I don’t see it listed.

It looks like his regen from activating special attacks was omitted from the spotlight?

Will damage from things like DOT debuffs, limbo, aura of incineration, death filed, ect be reflected back while he's attacking as well?

Gain Fury increasing Attack Rating by 3477 for 20 seconds. While this Fury is active, Namor’s Opponents gain 0 Power when struck by Special Attacks.

Is the 3477 attack for all champion rarities?
  • @Kabam Miike Can Namor's SP3 fury stack?

    Yep, these can stack.

So if I have Namor, Drax, Beast, Hulk, and Magneto would they raise the attack percentage by 29%?

It's still in the quest tho.. sigh
It's still there, it's under 'Basic Abilities'.
  • Hey there, apologies for the confusion. Namor does have Regeneration; updating the spotlight to properly display this now.

Developers recommend Liquid Courage but did they factor in that LC is 30% reduction in regen?

    I’m guessing no.

Just thought of a few more damage back interactions. If you time it correctly, would you send back the damage from frost bite or aftershock expiring?

It says all sources. It should be everything that causes any form of damage. They didn't make any exceptions.

So Namor is the only non-large opponent that will not taking damage from Variant 2 Particle Protector from any of his attack, am I right?
Or is there gonna be a 'fix' later after his featured arena ended for the reason 'being balance'? @Kabam Zibiit
    Please answer that.

I found Invisible Woman actually more challenging than Namor.
