Hoarding shards is bad?!?!

My guess is he doesn't really need the shards, so save them for a later point. Think about it, you need 5 champs for questing, 5 for AW defense, 3 for AQ/AW attack. That's 16 champs needed. Once you have whatever magic number you want, why NOT save up for something/someone better?
