Query on AW defence

I have noticed one thing in AW that if you place Heimdall in defence, his own synergy ability is not activated when the other defenders are attacked. I am talking about the ability to make the other defenders indestructible and unstoppable just prior to being KOed.

Please correct me if my observation is wrong.

    Synergies don’t work in AW defence.

    Ahh... Am a relatively new player, so don't know about the previous stuffs... But this has been insightful.
