Mephisto vs Sabretooth

I thought mephisto prevents the opponent from gaining buffs when he imprisons their soul. Am I not understanding his abilities? Does Sabretooth have some ability that overrides this?

Sig ability —> Mephisto technically reduces the AA of buffs by 100%, so there’s still 60% - 100% chance remaining due to Kabam logic

There might have been some other nodes too such as Force of Will
