Does Blade need to be awakened in order to be effective?

To be effective? No. He still has extremely solid power gain and bleed for some solid damage. But he does need the awakened ability to be the potion-saving uber-sustainable champ that he can be.

The regen does save a lot of potions but without it he still doesn great damage. If you ever get a gem for him use it.

Unduped- never have to worry about block/healing cutting your power at bad times.
Duped- never have to worry about health.

There is no bad version of Blade.

My favorite thing is his parry/bleed.
Boss almost to SP3 and can't get him fire SP2, parry/bleed to victory.
