I also posted this as a comment in a different thread but thought it was worth sharing as a separate topic:

The new insanely difficult content coupled with the fact that the content (difficulty plus nodes) nullifies 85% of older champs makes the game. Kind of gives players a “what’s the point feeling.”

For example, Act 6, particularly the latter chapters will be unconquerable for probably 60% (maybe more) of players, even with a team of 5* r5 champs. Then what?

Even middle of the road skill players should be able to eventually make their way through story content as they build up their teams without having to break the bank. Gives everyone something to play for, a goal. The end game should not be attainable by just the elite players with elite champs. I know many players with 10-15 r5 5*s who have basically quit story content because they have to spend hundreds of units just to pass 1 path in Act 6. Worse yet, there are players who have quit because they can’t beat a particular boss. These are not bad players either. They run Map 5 and some 6 in AQ, can regularly beat Uncollected, and are Gold 1 in war.
