Good fighting strategy?

I’ve been playing a couple years and I’ve got a decent roster but my skill level just hasn’t evolved with my roster. I need to learn how to fight better. I’ve been told, “don’t get hit” and it really doesn’t help so is there an actual fighting strategy for not getting hit? I try to play aggressive, defensive, something in between... and I still suck. I’m a liability to my team. I feel like there’s something I’m missing but I just don’t know what it is. Other than dork lesson series which I’ve watched a few times is there a resource or guide for how to fight better that I don’t know of?

PARRY (w/ having the Parry Mastery, plus others that increase the Parry Stun Duration)...
Learn to get the timing right to consistently be able to do Parries, stunning opponent and thus letting you begin your Combos or getting off an easy Heavy attack while they are stunned. Higher BlockProficiency mastery (or certain high BlockProf champs like Cap and CapIW) will lessen the amount of damage you take with your Parry too.
Just practice some fights to just repeatedly Parry, back up, Parry again, etc, etc, and against various champs, to help you nail down the timing.
EVADE (w/ Dexterity Mastery, really only need 1 point)...
Learn to consistently Evade whenever the defender rushes in to start their Medium (combo) attack, it's not just for Evading an opponent SP attacks.
Can practice using Stark Spidey specifically, since he builds up charges with each Evade. Instead of Parry, just do an Evade every time opponent starts into you. Typically when they start a Medium and you evade back, they will retreat afterwards as well, so then just wait until they start in again, and Evade each time, over and over, etc. Watch Starky's changes go up to 10.
Will help you get accustomed to Evading opponent Heavy and SP projectiles as well.
INTERCEPT...
Dashing into opponent (Medium combo start, or also a Light combo start method too), just as you see that opponent is starting to rush into you.
Will need to do that against Stun-Immune opponents.
Just can’t do that against someone like UC/Jugg or others who are in “Unstoppable” mode.
Practice, practice.
