Now that Carina controls the Contest, she has to make sure her Summoners care equipped to deal with new dangers.
Carina proposes a set of four games, testing one's ability to adapt under different circumstances. Each of these four games tests a fundamental pillar in the Contest: Skill, Luck, Endurance, and Knowledge.
Chapter 1: Game of Skill
This chapter focuses on the skill aspect of the game. To succeed in this chapter, one must know the fundamentals of fighting, such as Intercepting and Dodging Special Attacks. Furthermore, more niche skills must be learned as well, such as the ReParry. The defenders in this chapter will have high attack ratings in comparison with the health of the Attackers, but the Attackers have nodes that will help them take down the defenders. Blocking hits is discouraged in this chapter.
Example Quest:
Character Restrictions: 2*s
Global Nodes:
Two is better than One–2*s gain +1000% attack rating. Any hit the Attacker takes cannot be more than 50% of their maximum health.
You're Blocked–Successfully executing an Intercept grants the Attacker a Perfect Block passive, guaranteeing the next blocked hit to be perfect.
Warning–Third Special Attack is Activated.
Each path has its own Linked Node, such as Life Steal, Brute Force, etc.
Each path also has hard-to-dex Special Attacks, such as HT, Taskie, Doom, etc. (None of the defenders should have specials like WM or WS)
Boss: Emma Frost
Nodes:
Armor Break Immunity
Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend–Whenever Emma Dashes forward, she goes into Diamond Form. Whenever she Dashes backward, she goes into Telepath form.
Chapter 2: Game of Luck
This chapter focuses on the luck aspect of the game. To succeed in this chapter, one must have luck on their side. The defenders in this chapter will have nodes that randomize effects placed on both the attacker and the defender. Although one's luck in a fight plays a huge role, one's luck in the contest overall will also be taken into consideration. Nodes that reward players for fighting with a certain champion will be present.
Example Quest:
Character Restrictions: 5 and 6*s
Global Nodes:
Gambler's Ruin–Both Champions gain a random effect at the start of the fight. The pool of effects is increased.
Power Roulette–Both Champions gain 50% less power from being struck, but every 20 seconds, both the Attacker and Defender either gain or lose up to 1 bar of power.
Seeing Double–If the Defender is the same character as the Attacker, the Attacker gains a random beneficial effect at the start of the fight.
Warning–Third Special Attack is Activated.
Each path also has its own Linked Node, such as Coin Flip, Double or Nothing, etc.
Each path has RNG-based defenders, such as Domino, Venompool, Fixit, etc.
Boss: SW
Nodes:
Crits for Days–All of the Attacker's attacks are Critical.
Broken Sword–The defender takes 40% less damage from Critical Hits.
Enhanced Fortune–The Potency of effects from Veil of Fortune is increased. The pool of effects is also increased.
Chapter 3: Game of Endurance
This chapter focuses on the endurance aspect of the game. To succeed in this chapter, one must be able to fight without tiring out. The defenders in this chapter will have extremely large health pools, making it imperative to stay alert. Unlike the Grandmaster and Collector's creations, this game will not punish long fights and crushing attacks. Nodes that shorten and lengthen the fight will be present.
Example Quest:
No Character Restrictions
Global Nodes:
Titan–+200% Health
Chitin–Every 30 seconds, the Defender goes into Chitin mode for 10 seconds. During this time, there is a 50% chance to inflict a Weakness debuff, lasting 6 seconds on the Attacker every time contact is made. These can be purified by using a Heavy Attack. Also, the Defender takes no damage during this time.
Powerful Strikes–Non-critical hits gain +100% additional attack rating.
Immune to Ability Accuracy Reduction
Warning–Third Special Attack is Activated.
Each path also has its own Linked Node, such as Combo Party, Special Delivery, etc.
Each path has various opponents.
Boss: Guillotine 2099
Spectre–A lingering curse reverses all healing abilities.
Electric Barrier–An electric barrier is activated after a Special Attack is used by the defender for 3 seconds. If the Defender receives an attack while the barrier is active, the opponent is Stunned for 2 seconds.
Rising Combo–The defender's Combo rises by 20 every 2 seconds.
Chapter 4: Game of Knowledge
This chapter focuses on the knowledge aspect of the game. To succeed in this chapter, one must know the interactions between certain champions, and how they work together to help or hurt. The defenders in this chapter are questions with the right answers and wrong answers. Some answers might not be ideal, but they can still solve the puzzle. The utilization of synergies is very important to walk through this quest.
Example Quest:
No Character Restrictions
Global Nodes:
Warning–Third Special Attack is Activated.
Each Defender has its own Local Nodes.
Example Defender:
Ultron
Power Shield–Basic hits deal no damage, but Special Attacks deal 400% more damage.
Matador–The Attacker can't gain power normally, but they receive 1 bar of power every time the Defender uses a Special Attack.
All or Nothing–The Defender is less likely to use its Special Attacks 1 and 2, and is far more likely to use its Special 3.
Empowered Immunity–The defender gains 33% of a bar of power every time they are inflicted with a debuff they are immune to.
The answers:
Best–Stark Spidey
Others–Taunt champions, champions who Power Drain/Power Burn/Power Lock, Medusa
Wrong answers–Bleed/Poison champions
Boss: Venom
Charging Bull–Opponents deal 200% more damage while under an Unstoppable effect. While Unstoppable, all of the Opponent's buff durations (other than Unstoppable) are paused until 6 seconds after the Unstoppable expires.
Anamnesis–Break the normal limitations of a Genetic Memory with perfect recollection of up to 20 effects.
Perfect Replication–Special Attacks have a 100% chance to copy up to 20 effects at their full duration.
Adaptive-Cycles between Physical and Energy resistance every 8 seconds.
Stolen Power–Every time the Attacker Removes a buff from the Defender, the Attacker gains a Fury buff, lasting 10 seconds.
The answers:
Best–Morningstar, DV, Diablo, Juggs, other Mystics
Others–CMM w/synergy
