What exacly happened in last month's gifting event that made it into such a drama
I believe some of the top alliances used shady methods to obtain units, like stolen credit cards and other stuff like that. I think there was a little but more to it, but I don't remember. edit: I think they used shell accounts with the stolen units to gift and basically deposit points
Will they even hold it? I thought after the massive sh*tshow they wont do it anymore? Maybe Im wrong
honestly, they probably made so much off of it that they're almost certainly going to hold it. they purposely make the rewards insane so people whale out hard on it. if they do have it, they might try to change something, but itll still be a whale fest
Basically I’m pretty sure an old reigning alliance that is no more called ‘MMXIV’ payed off someone in an alliance called ASGRD to tell them their gifting score. MMXIV then got below average accounts that apparently were arena/unit bots and eventually beat their score. ASGRD was the second best alliance at the time and eventually came second to MMXIV. Very shady indeed 🤨
it would be a terrible business decision to get rid of it. They make soooooooooo much money during gifting, it makes more money than 4th of July and cyber Monday deals.
However, on the player side of things... last year was super messy. Lots of alliances cheated with shell accounts and then saw some blowback from Kabam, but not to the extent that some other players wanted. (See COWhale) It was a total nightmare for the mods, as they had to shut down multiple threads about it and there was just an influx of “bad move on Kabam” comments both here and on the subreddit.
It also alienated quite a few big spenders, and Kabam didn’t say anything about it anywhere. So it’ll be back, but it will need serious change to be useful and work properly

honestly if someone told me they would give me 5K USD to tell them a score in a mobile game, I would do it in a heartbeat

be honest. If someone offered you a whole bunch of money for almost nothing, you would do it too

I wouldn't betray my friends trust for money. True friends are hard to find. You can always get more money if u want it bad enough.

i do agree, but in top alliances, "true friends" are rare. They are like hyenas, just together for their own benefit.

So sweet and innocent to still believe in "true friends".
Don't mind me, just a bitter old man who's learned better, passing through.
