Human Torch abilities

So I just fought Phoenix on one of the quests with my human torch. and I don't know if it's just me but isn't human torch supposed to absorb her energy stuff coming out of her hands with her special 1. Because it doesn't

    What do you mean? I mean if you block energy attacks you will get smoulder is that way you are asking?

    Only if its classed as an energy attack
