Featured 5* Crystal, will the next one be useless? And the one after that?

I was saving for the next Featured crystal, and there is a big issue with it.

Featured champs included (in order):
Hit Monkey
Guardian
Sasquatch
Air Walker
Dragon Man
(First Sept champ)

This crystal is releasing on Oct 6th. Guess what else happens on Oct 6th? Hit Monkey enters the Basic pool. Guardian enters Oct 20th and so on. I’m no math genius, but I’m pretty sure the Featured after this one starting with Sept Champ #2 will have that champ in the Basic pool BEFORE their Featured is released.

This is a problem in itself, but compounded with the fact that the Class Crystals have been released will make them practically useless. 15,000 shards for a 1/24 chance VS a 10,000 shard 1/50 (averaged between the 3 Class Crystals) is not great while netting a lot more champs by going the Class Crystal route.

What do you guys think? Has the Featured crystal been rendered useless?

This. They have said they are leaning toward most of the contents of featured 5* be at least playable (very few you wouldn’t like, in a void at least). In terms of new champs, if your math DOES check out (I’m too lazy), per your argument yes there won’t be any exclusivity to the featured, but remember you have a 1/24 shot at a champ there as opposed to a one out of multiple hundred.

It’s only about 1/50 in the Class Crystals. For 5K less shards

That's still twice the probability, right? I think that's worth the extra 5k shards. Furthermore, looking at the featured we have now and the words of the developers about future featured crystals, you would be more likely to pull something usable out of a featured than a Class, so I'd say that the extra 5k is warranted, and the featureds aren't going to die out in popularity anytime soon.

The crystals are dependent on who you are going for and how many of the pool you already have, each featured I work out how many I would be happy pulling vs <10% of the basic pool I’m still hoping for, the class crystals are great, two champs I really want to pull are ht and cv so that’s what I’ve been popping (science mystic), This seasons featured 6* I was missing many of the desireable champs so I’ve popped featured every time (plus ht is in there who I want for a n abyss run)
The 5* featured this time was worth it for me since I was missing nearly all of the desireable champs, but the last few rounds have been lame. and there aren’t too many gaps left in my 5* roster, I stopped popping them once I’d pulled Bw, voodoo and Emma, since after those pulls the rest of the crystal wasn’t worth the extra shards,
I guess the whales who already have a massive roster would prefer them since they have a higher chance of the newer champs that they don’t have yet

Twice the probably in theory, but let’s say you have 150,000 shards and want Hit-Monkey.

Is it better to have 10 1/24 chances and walk away with 10 champs or 15 1/50 chances and walk away with 15 champs? It’s twice the probability per crystal, but not twice the probability per shards.

10/24 is still better than 15/50. So yes, you get less champions, but you have a higher chance at a specific champ. You trade the overall # of champions attainable with a higher likelihood of receiving a certain champion. You win some, you lose some.

Personally I think featured 5*s still hold a lot of value for 15k shards.

There aren’t really any specific champs that I’m chasing as a 5* anymore, so the dual class crystals aren’t too enticing to me.

On the other hand, I love pulling and ranking new champs - especially if they fulfil a certain niche particularly well. Since I don’t buy cavs, featured 5*s crystals are the most efficient way for me to target these newer champs.

the current 5 star featured is the best ever Kabam have offered us. and i am hoping for a better one next round. i have gotten several featured champs like red guardian, longshot, etc thanks to the featured crystals.
