John mulaney - Magneto vs Howard the duck: No power gain: Matador

I believe I have discovered a bug between Magneto (me) and Howard the Duck (the opponent) in John Mulaney's Champion Challenge.

Active nodes are:
  • 80% physical resist
  • Enhanced armor up
  • Heavy-handed
  • Explosive Personality
  • Rage
  • Matador
  • A good defence
  • Equally balanced
I expected to get 1 bar of power every time Howard activated a special attack. However, this did NOT happen. I believe theres a wonky interaction between Matador and Magneto's magnetism which causes me to not gain any power at all. I have no other explanation of the issue. This effectively makes Magneto useless against Howard.

My team consists of:
  1. Quake
  2. Captain Marvel Movie
  3. Nick Fury
  4. Magneto
  5. Medusa

    You haven't heard about the new thing since the start of Cav difficulty where reducing someone's ability accuracy actually punishes you? Apparently, the way it functions in the game, if you reduce someone's ability accuracy it actually reduces the chance of beneficial things triggering, even though the function according to the node still takes place. It's been reported in many different ways with many different champs since Cav difficulty EQ first launched. I doubt anything of the sort will ever be fixed.

    I didn't know about that. Its very weird tho, especially since its not necessarily his ability that triggers it. I always thought of Matador as an ability I would inherit in the specific fights.. :/ even it the node is on the opponent. Its not uncommon for nodes that positively affect me, such as the "equally balanced" node in global nodes, to trigger even if I have magnetism
