I personally don't prefer updating ability, introduce multiple abilities for charcters and let the user choose what his hero wants to perform.
Re-skin is required for many ,but it takes too much time.
Majority like to see Cinematic skins than cartoon ones.
So work up on a rank list of charcters based on Popularity among people.
