Did I screw up

2 days ago I pulled and awakened Claire Voyant and dumped all my iso into her and got her to rank 2 level 5. Im pretty certain I can beat variant 3 chapter 1 and get the 2-3 rank up gem. Do you have to max them out as a rank 2 1st? Or did i mess up putting those 5 levels into her? What is the biggest advantage of the rank up gem? Does it save reaources? Max out the next level (Rank 3 in this case)

While we are on the subject should I put it into claire (duped) or falcon unduped (but I do have a skill gem im saving for aegon)

You have to max their level first so keep leveling her and then use a 2-3 gem. I believe that variant rankup gems is year specific though and don't think she's a candidate for it. So, falcon may be your option. He's good, but I personally don't think he's worth leveling (I have a 5* r5 and pretty much still sits on my bench). Earlier on, he probably would have been fun, but once you have a NF, falcon feels kind of meh to me. A lot of people love him though so just thinking you're really going to use him. He does need a pretty good sig level to get his big damage.

The 2-3 isn't year specific, but the 3-4 gem is.

Whats the difference between these 2? Is one a crystal spin for a random class and the other is generic?

Didnt see anything on variant 3 that involves a specific year released champ.

Rank up gems work instead of catalysts to rank up champs so yes, you have to level the champions up first.
