Does starky cheese still work for varient 3?

Recently took my starky to r5 using a gem from varient 6, with the intent with using him and ghost to get through varient 3, but can't seem to get the timing right for his semi infinite stunlock. Did they change the time on his stun, or am I just messing up the timing?

It still works 3 other techs and miles and stuptify. Get to almost sp2 before firing off sp1 that is the rotation. If they aren't dead when close to having no sp left fire a heavy for a power drain on last stun build back up and repeat.

He doesn't work for all fights ie venom can't be power drained by a tech or that rogue but he cheeses most of it.
