Question regarding the side quest

It is strange that the path rewards don't end up in the "quest stash" (the one that's in top right corner of the screen). When I finish the quest, there are no "quest rewards" either.
So my question is, would it be possible to back out from the quest without beating the boss and keep the rewards? As it looks to me, the rewards are automatically assigned to your inventory, so it should be possible.
Has anyone tried this, or can anyone from Kabam confirm this? I do not dare to try it, because I fear getting banned, and I need the t5cc frags.
