How is AW defender rating scored?

In the current AW, most wars now come down to defender rating. Can we please get a definitive answer to how it is actually scored?

Do boosts affect it?
Do masteries?
Do synergies?
Does anything else? Nodes placed on?

Because despite placing indentical defense (same champs at least) this war as last war, our rating dropped almost 13k.

Seeing as this is what decides who wins most wars now, it would be nice if we actually knew how it worked

Your 20,873 is multipled by .002 to determine the number of points you're contributing your alliance's final score.
