I have an awakened 5*r3 Aegon and an unawakened 6*r1 Kingpin. I can only r5 Aegon or r2 Kingpin. I know that Aegon is better for long fights but Kingpin is probably better for short fights. What should I do?

I would recommend Kingpin unless you really like playing with Aegon. If you play the latter, you don't take him with you to counter individual fights. You take him to clear entire lanes and build a synergy team around him, with maybe a counter or two for some fight that he can't do. But you need several fights to ramp him up properly and allow him to shine.

This is both good and bad. He's an excellent champion in the right circumstances and an absolutely essential one in a lot of endgame content, but I find his ramp-up really boring for the first maybe 150 hits. I'm also a bit annoyed that he doesn't have any utility at first. He gets a ton as he builds his combo meter but you can't counter anything in particular in the first fight (or at least the early stages of the first fight). He is an excellent evade counter when he reaches a certain point, but you better have three fights to ramp him up in before you take him against the evade champion up ahead.

I also really don't like the type of content (such as Abyss) where he truly shines, so he has been sitting quietly in my roster gathering dust for quite a while. He's just not for me. He has done a lot for me in the past but he's not my everyday champ in any way.

Things might change when I get my hands on a 5 or 6* Proxima Midnight and can get access to her double-synergy with him, but until then he's not exactly my favorite champ.

Kingpin isn't better than a fully ramped-up Aegon, but he is miles better than a not-yet-ramped-up Aegon. If you can clear content without needing a bazillion hits, I would take Kingpin over Aegon. I just really love playing him from the get-go.

In any case I'd invest in 5* duped Aegon 1st and max his sig asap. Aegon is not just for LoL type of fight, although his ramp up advantage is particularly obvious. He's good even in short fight like Act 6/7/Cav EQ skill path.
