I saw some threads on the lags and more generally problems of performances.

What about introducing an option for the player to activate high number of details and animations (rain, fog, fires...), high resolution and so on ?

The GPUs suffer when they are not the most recent (less than 1 year) and the most premium. It is not only a matter of iOS versus Android hardwares. My nearly 4-year old iphone 8 plus has lags and MCOC is the only active app.
Personally I prefer to not have lags and appreciate the fight that is the core of the game rather than the most beautiful graphics (sorry but I don’t take time to watch at the backgrounds during the fight...), and I am pretty sure most of players think the same. But I understand players that could disagree.

Providing this option could allow more mobiles to run correctly the game.

I agree, I know of other mobile games that offer different modes of animations/graphics. Some are like you say for more optimized devices. As there are other modes that are very simple, nothing flashy or fancy. But the player is able to fully function the game while not using as much data and internet. Some big time gamers even choose the more simple mode due to its effectiveness. And no need of fancy animations, they’re just enjoying the game for what it is.

We appreciate and truly enjoy this game for its functions. We do recognize and appreciate the work the devs and graphic designers do. But I also feel that a more simplistic mode would fix a lot of the issues the game is currently having.
