Who designed this and why? Why would A be number 2 and B be 1. Also why keep switching the boss portal from A to B ...

Exactly, thought I was the only who noticed the boss portal. I mean, how hard would it be to keep it consistent?

I noticed this too. Messed me up in the 3rd chapter. And then some portals are messed up as well. I started with A which is path 2. No idea why. Then I went to the boss because it was portal A for all the other paths to go to the next and turns out that path, B was the portal to the next path. Overly complicated for no reason at all.
