Mr. Sinister question

I have a 6-star Mr. Sinister. Is it worth taking him to rank 2 ONLY to handle the reverse controls phase of the 6.4.6 grandmaster fight?

I will be making a run for thronebreaker, and this part of the fight makes me the most nervous because I am terrible at reverse controls. I don’t have Prof X, and thought Emma Frost would be immune…but no. So my only immunity option is Sinister.

If not, then my only plan is ‘git gud’ at reverse controls.

No, because of the damage bonus from the tokens of competence, he will be able to do it as a r1. Also, Emma is immune if you have Mysterio

I just did the fight last week to get TB and used r5 Doom for the entire fight. I’m not great at reverse control either and I tried to get away from him as much as possible during RC. By the time you get to the wounded state reverse control is active but if you’re good and able to continue through another round Mr Sinister may come in handy.

I brought along cap iw, magneto, venom but none of them did as much as doom.

I ended up using 2000 units to get him down. I spent more units during the first and second phase than the RC control phase. By the time RC phase kicks in I was getting the hang of doing the tasks so it wasn’t as bad.

Thanks. I don’t have Mysterio at 5 or 6 star unfortunately. If I happen to pull him, this would be my preference because I’m fairly comfortable with Emma.

Right now my team will be Doom, Colossus, Sinister, and then 2 others TBD.

I think it will take me thousands of units also, but I have those banked and ready. A few practice fights under my belt in phase one is next.

I'm currently stuck in the reverse controls phase grinding units and I regret not ranking Sinister. R1 Sinister will work but do not do this fight without a reverse controls counter. That last phase is bs.

I will definitely bring Sinister…I’m just trying to avoid ranking him up and use those resources elsewhere. I suppose an alternative is I could rank him up while at the grandmaster if R1 wasn’t working out for me.

But yeah, I want to at least have an option in case I do really poorly on reverse controls.

Are you going to do the Tenacity path with all the cosmics on it? Cause if you have him, that's an amazing spot to ramp up Aegon.
Another good option to round out your team is Kingpin + Hood (well Hood is more for the Tenacity path; Kingpin absolutely SMOKES Annihilus and walks through Aarkus on that path with that synergy, but still) cause Kingpin is just ridiculous for that fight (has everything he needs for the first two phases, as well as all that willpower healing) and then you can just use Sinister for the third phase.

I do have Aegon. I haven’t planned what path I take. So he might be another good option in general. Ramping him up is always my problem. I’m usually scared of losing combo so I exit out a lot in fights to save 70 hits or so at a time. Does he have any advantage in reverse controls, or are you just saying for other phases he would be a good option?

I also have Kingpin (6 star rank 2, awakened). I hadn’t thougt of him for grandmaster. What makes him so good for first couple of phases?

Are you bringing SL or Proxima for the safeguard? Also use your heavy safeguard often.
You definitely need to learn how to play him without getting hit. Quitting out often won't work in the long term. Bring NF evade synergy if you have to.
Aegon doesn't have any advantages in reverse controls phase except a lot of damage so if you get him wounded you can blitz through the entire phase

I used r1 Sinister against GM and Sinister was actually my MVP. It's just longer.

If you do r2 him, I'm sure it'd be better, but I'm not sure if it's worth the resources. If you place him as AWD then I can see it paying off, though. I didn't have the AWD option b/c someone in my bg had him duped and ranked high, so I just decided to keep him at r1.

When I go back and explore, maybe i'll consider taking him to r2. But from SOP, I think I've gotten used to just playing passive and waiting out the reverse control phase.

I’m not sure how helpful this is but I’m also really bad at reverse controls and I didn’t bring a reverse control immune champion for the grandmaster. My completion attempt took 20ish revives (half being on the 3rd phase). Afterwards I was upset because I felt like it would have helped to have someone who was reverse controls immune. Now here’s why I’m saying this, the only other time I’ve fought the grandmaster was sop final week and it went so much better than my act 6 completion attempt. It took half, if not less, of the revives my first grandmaster attempt took.

My point is the first one is going to be rough but it’ll get significantly better after that and I feel like it’s useful to know how to do the reverse controls phase without an immune champion. Not sure if this is helpful or not but I wanted to leave my experience so many you can take some insight from it.

Used mister sinister at 6 star rank 1 for grandmaster he is very good for that phase can block grandmaster sp 1 which is unblockable too.

You are right, I do need to get better at building a combo. I used Aegon in a few instances in content that was hard previously, and sacrificed the units to build him up. I can probably be comfortable up to 100 combo before quitting, so getting him to 400ish combo isn’t all that bad and might be worth it for big damage.

Both of magnetos and stryfe also are psychic shield so they are also immune to reversed controls (last option is juggs which I don't recommend)

Only Prof X and Sinister are immune to the Grandmaster's reverse controls without synergies.
- Emma/Mysterio
- Overseer and the Hulks
Are other options with synergies
