Why are cavalier crystal shards not available for cavaliers?

Yesterday I achieved cavalier milestone. I was expected to get cavalier crystal shards as I expected.But to my surprise I received grandmaster crystal shards.Why?

For the same reason TB players dont get TB crystal frags...

Because it’s free, so you only get them for free once you’ve surpassed it. Makes sense personally.
