This is utter ****… give us the 20% boost… we don’t need this stupid calculated 30% boost
Or better yet, just give us the Flat 30% Increase across the board that apparently would've been easier to implement than this... I don't understand this decision at all especially if the Flat Increase would've been easier and less confusing!
If they did easier and less confusing we would probably have less bugs and issues lol
Serious question, Kabam. How do you guys think this change gonna change this from happening: "Gold Crystals should be a better option for Gold than selling resources"
it won't even make a dent upgrading 6*! 1 6* needs around ~4m to r3, so, you need ~190 U. Crystals to get that amount now, assuming you open them in bulk, otherwise you will get 15k 99.9% of the times = you still have to hoard your crystals
When did they say that the boost would be "rng" depentant? I didn't see that stated. This is bg, Kabam!
There are 2 ways to do this 30% boost:
1) Flat 30% increase to each outcome to increase expected value by 30% 2) Increase expected value by 30% by changing the outcomes and/or rate of each outcome
Let's take a look a what each of those means with a simple (albeit extreme) example: I have no idea what the actual numbers are so this is purely for the purpose of demonstration
A flat 30% increase would mean: 3120 gold = 50% chance 6500 gold = 40% chance 13000 gold = 10% chance expected value = 5460 gold (30% increase)
Now the second way to increase the EV is: 2400 gold = 50% chance 5000 gold = 40% chance 10000 gold = 9% chance 136000 gold = 1% chance expected value = 5460 gold (30% increase)
Since Kabam has said that it's not a flat 30% increase to each crystal, we can assume it's the second option. Again, my example here is very extreme, but you can see how in both cases, we end up with a 30% increase in the expected amount of gold earned.
Now that question is do we want that 1% chance to hit the jackpot or do we just want the guaranteed 30% increase from option 1? I think we've made our opinions pretty clear here.
Can you explain why this is worse? I'd like to take that to the team. If the increase is to odds to give you more gold, I'm not sure why that's worse than just a plain boost to gold if it averages out to the same thing.
Before , if we pulled 10k gold, the boost increased it to 12k gold. What the announcement made it seem was instead of 12k, we would now pull 13 k instead of the original 10k. That was what everyone or atleast most expected.
I think the goal here is that this way, if you would have pulled 100k, you're usually going to pull 130k. So it definitely works out to a boost, but not on a single crystal basis.
Why go that route instead of the usual flat method? Unnecessary complication and conversations.
Because we can't ever make things easy on ourselves
Wait are u guys trying to say that with this method a gold crystal has a chance to "crit" for 30% more... Thats not better than the 2x a year 20% boost...
Not at all, and this is why I need somebody who understands this better to explain. This is not about a chance to get 30%, it's about everything averaging out to 30% on average when opening your crystals. This is taking things like Drop Rates and amount into account. There is no world in which a temporary 20% boost is better here.
So it is about drop rate. Ok so kabam will also change that we can open more then 10 crystals at one time. Lets put it to a 100 crystals at one time. Because the drop rate will be higher. Niw us players are forced the a drop rate that is given by 10 crystals at one time.
The way I understand it is the gold boost was created to dissuade us from hoarding crystals for a special gold boost event by increasing the amount of gold across the board... but the best way to get the gold increase is to open gold crystals in bulk, so we should hoard gold crystals to get the new increased gold boost.... Or something, I don't know I think I just passed out.....
It's not that big of a deal. People need to realise that you open way more gold crystals than other crystals, so rng is not a big factor for gold crystal compared to other crystals.
So all this is doing is telling us to hoard crystals, which you guys funny want us to do, bcuz the way it sounds you have a better chance at getting more gold when you open a bunch at once aka "hoarding".
This “GoLd InCrEaSe” would be fine if we still got that 20% gold boost 2x a year in top of that but if you want us to open gold crystals once we get them then they have to be more on a 1v1 scale otherwise it is just the exact same as before or we have to hoard them.
There are 3 real options now:
1) scrap this stupid rng and give us the old system 2) you keep the stupid rng and give us the gold boost 20% on top of it 3) you give us the 30% gold boost on a 1v1 scale like you lead every single summoner to believe.
This was not a few people that thought there was a fluke literally everyone I’ve talked to or is on the forums believed a flat 30% increase is coming. That is misleading.
Yeah, this needs to be a 30% boost on a 1:1 crystal. No mention of RNG nor chance of the increase. This was a flat out deceitful omission and should be treated as much by players.
The Gold increase has gone live (in fact, it went live before 10). I'm not good at math, but the changes were made to give an approximate 30% boost across all crystals.
AFAIK: On a 1 to 1 crystal rate, it wouldn't look like much of an increase, but opening a bunch of them will net out to that increase.
I'm gonna get somebody much better at math to explain this though, so stay tuned on exactly how this works.
Please do get a better explanation because the previous explaination was a 30% per crystal not over a batch of crystals.
It is 30% per crystal. 30% of 1 crystal is barely anything, that's what he in stating. If you get 10k Gold and it's a 30% boost, you'll get 13k. Opening a few hundred you will actually notice the boost. That's what Mike is talking about.
I’m not sure you were following along it’s not a 30% boost when it goes from 2400 to 2500 Per basic Crystal that’s not 30%

Original value of gold in crystal * 1.3 = ?
Why is this so hard?
I feel the same way when tony and others felt when they heard why is gamora
