Alright, it took me a few years, but I’m finally convinced that hoarding resources and not opening crystals is the best way to play the game.
The whole “please open your crystals to save valuable server resources” gold boost almost had me fooled, and shame on me for nearly falling for that!
I cannot wait until the 8th year anniversary, I’m sure a whole year of hoarding will be handsomely rewarded, and next time I’ll be ready!
Who would have predicted that having 7 unused 5* AG wouldn’t be enough to get the top prize in the trade-in store? Not this guy. But I’m not one to back down from a challenge.
I only have 4652 unopened crystals in my inventory, and not a one of them will help me get that 6* AG this year. So next year, I’m looking to have 20,000+ unopened crystals of all kinds in my inventory, as well as all the random gems I can hold onto. Next year, with proper planning and hope I’ll be properly prepared like I should have been this year.
After all, you never know when one of the most valuable resources in the game will suddenly become available to purchase for a limited time with a very specific (and still relatively uncommon) non-currency item that isn’t readily available during the limited-time offer. Especially after a few rounds of “please open your crystals we need the server space for better performance”.
Can’t wait for next year though. I hope the folks who properly held onto their stashes enjoy their 6* AG, and I’ll be sure to be ready for year 8!

The gold boost was to encourage us not to hoard crystals all year round for a boost. But this awakening gem offer has encouraged us to hoard resources all year in case there’s an offer.
The way this trade in event was built has completely changed the way I think about resources.

But for most us us ordinary noobs it is an utter nonsense. I still want&need certain champions, so 12 months worth of hoarding would be sabotaging myself.
