Gifting Event Bug? Shouldn't I get rewards for spending?

Hello Guys,
I don't know If this is a bug or misunderstood. I was late for gifting event when I entered the my alliance, but it was said that my spending beforehand would count now ist seems that i have to start all anew. Did I miss Something?

It is only spending AFTER you reach 14 days in alliance that will count for Alliance event points.
