Brian Grant leaving his alliance take

I have been subscribed to his channel for years. Him and seatin were the two that kept me excited. As much as I hate to say this, he is overreacting imo. He is f2p and is angry he can't keep up with top end whales. We need the whales to keep the game going. I am f2p, I have 30k+ units, 50+million gold, and I strong enough roster to complete 7.3. I understand that if I don't spend I can't keep up with spenders (money talks). There is no content that requires any 6*r4, you can easily grind the arena and save your bc till the gifting event and pop 100 ggc for free. In the end I hope he keeps playing, but if someone isn't happy playing a game, they should find something else to do. I wish BG nothing but the best in his future alliance and video's, I will stay subscribed to him till the end.

There was a time when I considered walking away from the game, for reasons completely different from Brian’s but also in some respects very similar. So I have an inkling of the situation he’s in. At the end of the day no one can tell you what to enjoy doing.
I hope he finds a different way to enjoy the game, but if he doesn’t I hope he lands in a happy place somewhere.
And why are we even discussing another man’s decisions…? Oh, right, because he is a YouTuber and has to make a big deal (and perhaps a living) out of everything. Not my business and does not affect me to the slightest.
BG looks like a nice guy, contrary to certain other very toxic YouTubers, whom I am gladly watching leaving the game. I wish him the best.
Long ago, I was frustrated with the introduced emphasis of Alliance gameplay. People can say what they want, but if you were here from the beginning, there were no Alliances. You went in and did your grinding solo, and because the game evolved because all games have to evolve, Alliances were introduced and it was then that the game began to shift into what it is now.
That’s not a complaint. It’s reality.
There are plenty of people who have played this game who have benefited from how the game has been structured. It’s always been titled toward spenders and people in alliances.
When you groups spenders in an Alliance, then yes, they are going to expect their money to have some tangible benefit that makes them feel like their money is well-spent.
I am a solo player. I don’t spend hardly anything, anymore. I used to spend more.
I recognized long ago that this game was designed for spending in alliances.
It doesn’t mean you have to — you don’t, at all.
But the game is designed to make people spend. You don’t have to spend. But no one can sit there and say that people who do are going to keep spending if they don’t see the value in what they get.
The game is tiered for competitiveness. If you expect to be among the best, with the best rosters and getting the best rewards, it’s very simple what you have to do:
1.Get in there and grind, grind, grind as F2P, get really really really good, clear as much as you can and hope RNG drops enough prestige champions for a good-to-great Alliance to pick you up and carry you for a bit
Or 2. Spend, hopefully wisely and within your means, and hope RNG drops what you need to get the characters you want to clear everything, get good, and do that. Then you can choose whether you want to be in an alliance.
That’s what this game is, and has been for years.
The game is always going to offer more and more to get people to spend.
It will until it ends. No matter what any of us do
I mean, the first thing I see on this thread is "I don't care about this guy"
So prob don't post stuff about YouTubers here, most forum people care about what they are up to.
It was a lot. I mean, that’s just the truth
Even if that content was an Everest-style unit-gobbling slog, the way Abyss and Labyrinth were at release, that would be okay! But there really should be a way to earn these rewards, not just buy them at this stage.
He is a f2p youtuber that was profitting from a game that he played for free....
Maybe the cow stop giving milk.. maybe he sees no way to make anymore content to profit from ..
I mean what are the biggest content that get views?
-New Champ showcases (gotta buy em most of thr time)
-Crystal openings (takes a while to earn them)
-Content guides...(not sure he did many guides other than live streams of beating content)
Maybe he just doesnt see it as profitable anymore... Cause making a vid of an r3 is pretty much generic now . And r4 is almost impossible for free...
And the release of r4 6* was a decision that I consider a bad move. We hardly have in-game content made for 6* r3, what shall we do with 6* r4? Those are a needed advantage only in high tier AW and AQ (for prestige).
However, the release of 6* r4 set a rather disturbing precedent. Not that far in the future, I can see 6* r5 slowly coming into existence. And with that the possibility of 7*s, like it or not, it is a great selling point. And atm, I am 90% sure 7*s (if they come) will be obtained only w irl money
the world after he quit: 🌍
Did he make some valid points in his recent vids about the state of the game & progression : YES
Practically it's not possible & therefore no F2P has it or even anywhere close to getting it
There's a very high chance that most of the endgame F2Ps won't be close even after Act 7 Exploration
One thing I didn’t like is how he said “I don’t want to be the guy who sits in the corner and pouts”
Then why make a video like that? Just move on man. How much money has he made from MCOC. Not only he doesn’t spend but he MAKES MONEY from this game.
He’s not a bad guy - we just have to remember the perspective of things.
Hopefully there will be other things in the pipeline like Abyss 2, more Carina's challenges as well.
I thought BGs video was well reasoned, although I do disagree with quite a bit and think that his alliance seems like a place that would be happier to have him in it rather than just chase AQ prestige. Being consistently on, available and having a high skill level has to count for something.
On the opposite end I do know a couple of whales who are quitting some alliance based content for the opposite reason (no need to do AW for the rewards Vs time/stress) so I think it'll end up balancing out.
At the end of the day, these massive spenders help support the game we all enjoy playing. I can live with the slower progression of my own account.
Hellraiser quotes aside, BG had an actual arc the last 2ish months.
From saying how the gifting event was doomed due to the "constant rewards earning for less effort" changes for new players(something that was a thing last year back when auto was terrible to use and every Act had 4 chapters), then saying how gifting event rewards are too op for spenders(a topic literally brought up EVERY YEAR), and now him saying that he's going to leave his alliance coincidentally before the gifting event ended.
If that doesn't scream an actual arc, I don't know what does lol.
Honestly, this happens at least once a year from BG. This isn't a new thing for him.
If he gets more enjoyment fully solo, more power to him.
He's still gonna make videos on MCOC, unlike Katy who up and chuck and done quit the game(I don't blame her decision either).
