Is Apocalypse amazing himself or just for synergy?

Is Apocalypse amazing himself so it's worth to rank him up to max or is he only great for synergy to make other champs better?

I only have enough resources to upgrade one champ to max so i need to know if it's a good investment to use it all on him.

    Rank him up asap. And learn how to play him.
    For horseman synergy, you better check youtube and feel yourself coz mutants shine differently with such synergy. Typical choices are colossus, wolve, AA, prof-x, gambit........etc.

    He’s chonke. Absolutely done not need awakening to be beastly. He’s an absolute powerhouse by himself, is immune to Bleed, incinerate and disorient after 8 seconds, gets more powerful after each fight and completely destroys all mutants. The horseman ability is just icing on the cake. And it can be the best frosting you’ve ever tasted if you have AA or wolvie or storm.

    I already had a r5 5* and just this weekend took my 6* to r3 and feel like I won the SuperBowl AND the SnooperBowl.

    One more thing: Which is the best sequence to use his special attacks? Especially in shorter games against 4-5 star champs with 5000-10000 hero rating using a maxed out 4 star Apocalypse?
