Is there an error/bug with the alliance war?

My alliance was Gold 3 when the season started and are now are Silver 1 at the end of the season. We lost a few matches but also won a few matches, surely we couldn't have dropped that much.
Just wanted to check to see if this was an error.

    You don’t start a season in Gold/Silver/etc brackets. That is only an in-season (and end-of-season) status of how well you’ve done only in the current season (points wise).

    Your previous Gold-3 was just how well you did in the previous season, then it all starts back at 0 when a new season starts.

    Your War Rating, and corresponding Tier # (Tier 1 thru 20), is what carries over on a continuing basis, but not the Gold/Silver/etc.
