So, we played last war on tier 9(multiplier 2.8x), lost the war and went back to tier 10(multiplier 2.4x)...the points we accumulated on the war we lost, were multiplied with tier 10 multiplier and not with tier 9...so, what's up with that?

    Your opponent was probably in tier 10. When two alliances with different tiers match up, I believe it’s a toss up between which tier you then play in.

    This happened with my ally too...we played tier 5 and got tier 6 multiplier after the war.
