What happens with the extra Ore?

If you are like me, about 75% of the valkyrie store items, I dont want to purchase just because i have no need for it. Does anyone know if the extra ore gets converted to gold or is a use it or lose it mentality?

I think Jax said somewhere that they will be lost, no converting it to gold
