Battlegrounds brought me back to the game: another perspective

I know many have been dunking on battlegrounds due to reward structure, but this mode is the first thing to get me excited to play in a long time. I got TB after 7.2 came out and had little desire to play since, but BG has made the game fun again and a purpose for ranking up champs to use.

Another thing that's been overlooked by most, but I think will be awesome is friendly tournaments since friend matches are free. Can you imagine a YT tournament with guys like Lags, karatemike, brian grant, etc having a fun tournament for bragging rights? The streams and vids would be awesome.

Even the official game mode has so much potential for variety in future seasons with changing up ban list with community voted bans, adding more bans, adding or lowering the champs in an deck, etc plus all the node fun.

I feel like I'm one of the only ones enjoying the mode since so many are just complaining about the rewards (not unjustly so since they are reworking them).

Yea, I can agree with you that the mode at its core is fun.

But as usual, kabams greed and complete misunderstanding of their customer/player base has meant we’ve ended up with a game mode that no one really wants to put the time and effort in that it deserves.

The more I reflect on how this was implemented the more frustrated I get. The greed really shows.
I get that, but it literally just came out. They have time to adjust things and they said they would. They do have to make money off it in some way to keep the game going f2p. Vega had a great video about this same concept of frustration but to give it time and enjoy it as f2p

It's a great mode and I agree that it's fun to watch a YT tournament but what happens after that live stream ends. You're stuck with a unrewarding gamemode that simple doesn't entice anyone to participate in. I'm glad you're able to find enjoyment in the mode but it seems like a very similar situation to one that me and my friend had with MROC (may it rest in peace) where we wouldn't play the game for a while but when a new update dropped it was all exciting again. However the monotony of the game made it unplayable on a day to day basis. That is what I feel the current direction of battlegrounds is, an occasionally fun mode like incursions that doesn't do anything to actually motivate people to focus on this particular mode.

It’s not really an excuse for a clear and blatant cash grab. Off the top of my head:

    - we’re expected to pay 4000 units to unlock masterly load outs that were insinuated would be free for the player base.

    - to gain solo and alliance event rewards we have to use elders marks. We gain a small number of these from progressing through the ranks but an unlimited number are available for units

    - we need to win multiple matches in a row to move up the ranks. At a certain point this becomes difficult. We gain a small number of victory shields to help us, but again an unlimited number are available for units

There is clear frustration from the majority of the player base and all Kabam can say is ‘we’ll take it away and discuss with the team’.

The deployment of this mode has been shoddy, even for Kabam.

Then let’s not forget the whole debacle of the 8.1 release.

Kabam didn’t have enough foresight to think releasing 2 bits of major content at the same time would cause their team problems, and only decided this at the last moment before postponing 8.1 - causing players to lose out on their expiring items.

I mean they’ve only been doing this for the last 6/7 years. I know this is a different topic, but damn the team have dropped the ball this month.
