Battlegrounds, Mastery Loadouts, and more!

Many of us want to love Battlegrounds so much and throughout the beta it was by far my favorite game mode, (not counting the time we got to dominate with Steve) however the launch of Battlegrounds has seen multiple issues surface.

In the https://playcontestofchampions.com/news/battlegrounds/ blog post it says “There is no cost associated with switching Mastery Loadouts!”

This has proven to be disingenuous. There is at minimum 1000 unit cost associated with unlocking the second deck (required to truly switch masteries) and then there is also the cost associated with changing the mastery tree before it can be applied to the loadout. These are actually multiple avenues of costs associated with switching loadouts.

Matchmaking has seen a litany of issues from sandbagging to uneven matchups even without sandbagging. Is there anywhere that discusses how matchmaking is determined? If this is a truly competitive game mode, matchmaking should be open to all based on their current rank in victory/gladiator track. This is especially significant as there is only 1 level of rewards. If the matchmaking is currently set up to pair like rosters or like prestige levels, then the rewards achievable should also be adjusted to reflect the variation in matchmaking.

Many have already shared problems with elder’s marks and rewarding for participation, however few have failed to comment that with the continued energy cost, persistent bugs in the game mode, and continued prevalence of modders, there needs to be some benefit for people spending time and energy in the game mode.

In summation, Masteries and loadouts need enhancements/lowered cost, matchmaking adjustments necessary, and more benefit for actually participating in the game mode.
