Why am i failing this Doctor Doom combo?

I've just recently started playing Doctor Doom and one of the combos i've seen recommended in a tutorial video was MMLLL, but every time i do the two mediums i'm not able to continue the combo with the light attacks because Doctor Doom turns his body so much on the second medium punch that the defender always has time to counterattack.

Am i doing something wrong as to why the second medium punch allows the defender to counter before i can do the liggt attacks to finish the combo? Can i do it faster or is there something i have to do before initiating the combo to make the defender unable to counter after the second medium punch?

Please explain how to do this like i'm 10 years old and trying it for the first time.

Yes. MM ends a combo allowing the opponent to retaliate. Unless they are stunned of course. Sp3 when they are 2 or more bars of power. Then MM, MLLLM, SP1,then sp2. Or for a larger health pool you can try to get to sp3 again for the second fury buff then work toward the sp2 finisher.

You're likely just doing it on a non-stunned opponent.

You need to do it after the sp3 stun.

Oh, so that combo ONLY works right after SP3? No other time?

What's the go-to combo for the fight in general then? Is that just MLLLL or was it some combo ending with a heavy attack?
MLLLH does fine as long as the opponent doesn’t shrug off rebuffs at an abnormal. And as khellendros kindly stated, MM followed by either LLLMM or MLLLM after an sp3

A combo is ended after the fourth light attack, second medium attack, or after any heavy attack or special attack. When the combo ends, the opponent is given time to react, which is why you can't continue your combo after the second medium. You can only use that combo after the SP3 because the opponent gets stunned after it, and when the opponent's stunned they can't do anything, so they won't retaliate after you end the first bit of the combo with the second medium.

In addition to what has been mentioned (the Doom cycle occurs after an sp3...
MM - MLLLM or MLM - MLLLM or replace MLLLM with LLLMM but that one is not as efficient since you get power gain while they are shocked, when Doom is duped, so the lights can benefit from the mediums happening first.)

Also, you need max stupefy mastery to extend your stun duration.

Also, if the defender is a skill champ and can shrug off debuffs or reduce the duration, it's harder to do (Karnak has a shorter stun duration, agent venom, kinoin, jabari, crossbones, etc. Can shrug the stun)

Also, if they are stun immune or on a stun immune node, you won't be able to do any hits after the sp3 because they won't be stunned.

Doom's SP3 Stun is passive, it cannot be reduced in duration, either by proficiencies or by abilities of champions like Karnak.

Passive Stuns can absolutely have their duration shortened it's just that most champions and nodes than interact with stun state the they only affect stun debuffs (other than stun immunity)
