Spider man Supreme boss fight bug?

Not sure if this is a bug or by design. I took longshot in to fight the monthly event quest final boss. Hit hi with Longshots heavy and Spiderman Supreme instantly gained 99 power gain buffs. His power went to full instantly as well. And he immediately was back at special 3 right after he fired it off, due to absurd amount of power gain buffs.
