Do relics work on defence?

Defense of what game mode? If you're going up against someone in BG's and Arena, yes they work on a defender as well.

I placed a defender with a relic and it had a cancel sign over the relic

OP asking if someone in arena has a relic equipped will a battlecast be sent out randomly when in the match

(haven't thought of that possibility but it could make story mode content bosses interesting if you for example had a Thanos boss with an entire #BlackOrder battlecast relic

nah I highly doubted a sw would be yeeted out at me, if u can answer that 100% too that's nice but i meant the attribute bonuses

That's probably a good thing. I remember strikers being available for both attacker and defenders when they came out but guess relics are different.
