Doctor Doom Rating Dropped After Ranking Up

I just ranked up my 6* Doctor Doom from 2 to 3, and his overall rating dropped by at least 300 points. He was my 2nd highest champion over 14,000, and now he's my 3rd highest champion at 13,769. Why would ranking up a champion weaken that champion?

    Did you level him up as well? If not, this could be the cause.
    Did you change your masteries? This can also cause a difference in who displays as your top champ
