BG placement order "RNG"

Does anyone know if there is any specific rhyme or reason on how the champ selection and placement order goes in BG fights? I've been tracking and 88% of my fights so far this season have had me selecting my champ first and having to place my defender first both in the first and possibly third round. This is a serious disadvantage and I've been tracking it and, again, literally 88% of the time I'm getting this bad matchup. Anyone know of how this is decided exactly in each fight?

I can only say that I'm in the same boat. Never tracked specific ratios, but it's probably on par with what you just described.

Would love some clarity on it as well, but I doubt Kabam would give any relevant info on it out of fear that it could be manipulated in some way.
