Thing on AW root node

We are in tier 10. I took claire up against Thing. I know, not the greatest counter but usually works. He had 14 rock stacks so I wanted to put one more on to move him to 15. I hit into his block (not with a heavy) 1 time and backed off. He stayed at 14 and as I backed off, he threw his special at 14. Therefore giving me less flexibility, since all his stack didn't fall off like it would at 15.

What am I missing? Why did he stay at 14 when I hit into his block?

Ability accuracy reduction. Happens a lot if you’re running Assassins mastery and he’s at low health.

Also remember if you hit Thing’s block he wont go unstoppable even if you reach 15 stacks. You can still hit the block without consequences until you see 15

Yeah, I just was going in to get the 15 and jumped back quickly to try to draw out the special. Then he didn't hit 15 and threw it and I sort of panicked a bit and ended up getting rooted.
