War Matching

We are a small alliance that play 1BG war .. we have drawn nothing but 30 player alliances at 60m plus every war apart from our first .. our last opponents were 85m rating v our rating just under 20m .. if war matching is based off war rating alone not taking prestige into account then its not fair for a small group .. just have to suck it up i suppose

War Rating versus Alliance Size (# of members) are 2 completely unrelated things.

And “unfair to a small group/alliance” (by # of players) has nothing to do with that.

It would be the same as a full 30 member group (whether they run 1 BG or 3 BG wars) of similar Prestige as your compared to the much higher Prestige alliance like ones you have faced. The mismatch for them would be the same.

If your War Rating had previously been increasing enough so that you are starting to face stronger teams now, that is by design that now you should have to start facing some of those stronger teams and show whether or not you can continue to beat even higher teams.

War Rating matching is blind to other aspects, but basically works that way (as mentioned above) to basically limit lower alliances from getting too high from only facing other low alliances no matter how high of a WR they start to be.

Or, if you have a WR that was “inherited” from former retiring members, etc, leaving your current alliance with newer/lower players, then your existing WR may be too high for who you currently have as membership, and WR matching will eventually settle you back to a lower WR more on par with other similar alliances.
    Etc.

i suppose fair enough we lost members so our war rating was high .. still feels like being overmatched each war tho

I've hypothesized having War Rating get tied to individual players and function more similarly to Prestige. Everyone contributes their own personal War Rating and then the Alliances War Rating is a sum or average of this. This way, as players come and go, there is a better chance that your War Rating will accurately reflect the actual players currently in the Alliance. Would also immediately remove the value of Shell Alliances which is a whole other issue.
