I'd say shang chi as he hits really hard and also is the best counter for any champ who evades or becomes unstoppable and also he doesn't have any immunities but he can purify any effects on him by certain hit combo

Utillity AND very good (If u ramp Up longer =insane) damage.

Shang Chi is like a swiss army knife with answers to most problems in mcoc. Throw in the ramped up damage on special 2 and ability to crit on block when awakened and he can do solid damage to supplement that utility.

Strongly disagree that Shang chi is the better unstoppable counter. He’s dependant on placing a slow debuff.

All a sig 200 Valkyrie needs is 10 hits (either on the defender or into the block) and unstoppable is made redundant for the rest of the fight.

I prefer Valkyrie - her play-style lets you get around so many different nodes.

He needs a debuff. Valk can counter unstoppable against any champ on any node. Shang-chi can’t.

Valkyrie is obviously the better unstoppable counter at 200 sig,while shang chi does it unawakened.. I can only remember of she hulk boss in 8.1 where she becomes debuff immune when she throw specials,In almost every other place shang chi works fine just like valkyre

Valkyrie is the best unstoppable counter,but shang chi is the most practical unstoppable counter... Just like vision power control is better than doom,but doom power control is more practical. Valkyrie is a great champ on her own,she doesn't need that unstoppable countering ability to perform her fullest.. It's just a nice utility

How is Shang-chi more practical? Valk needs 10 hits then you don’t even have to think about unstoppable again for the entire fight.

Shang-chi has to constantly manage and re-apply the slow debuff (that’s without worrying about nodes such as tenacity, debuff immunity etc.) That doesn’t sound more practical to me.

Because Shang Chi counters unstoppable faster than valk in a fight
Valk cannot counter unstoppable fast on fistcuffs or any node that prevents her from gaining buffs, Shang Chi does his stuff unawakened while valk needs sig 200 to achieve what you are saying

On fisticuffs even Shang chi cannot counter unstoppable because no debuffs. In any case both champs are awesome but Valkyrie’s unstoppable counter is definitely easier to maintain than chi’s because you only need to get 1 buff.

I would frame the debate a bit differently, based on roster size. Shang-Chi is one of the best generalists in the game, and Valk is one of the best specialists in the game.

On my mini account, pulling a 5* Shang-Chi was the key to progressing through Act 6, and a ton of other content. He solved most puzzles that I didn't have another option for (like the 6.2 Champion fight)

On my main whale account I have the best answer to every problem. So I took up Valk as yet another specialist for very specific fights.

So to me, who is "better" isn't the right question. Focus on A) who do you enjoy playing more, and 2) who helps your roster the most.

I'm lucky enough to have all god tiers skills champs including Kingpin, Nick F, Valkyrie, Shang Chi and Hit Monkey. Have had some extensive practice with all of them, and Kingpin is just one or two step above all of them. To answer your question, I love both Valkyrie and Shang Chi. However, Valkyrie counters more counters. She happens to be one of the best if not the best options for hazard shift. Just the simple fact, you don't need to get any clean look, and just hit on your opponents block, thats in itself is one of the most OP ability in the game. Unstoppable nodes? They both work great but i think Valk is more reliable here, specially if nodes punishes debuff.

Completely disagree... Yes kp nd nick r great defenders but shang chi has consistent damage... Kinpin only bypass shang chi dmg when opponent inflict a lot debuffs ,also his purify isn't guaranteed without synergies. Nick has insane damagw nd second life,makes him better choice for bg,but for general questing shangg chi rules.. he has a lot of utilities

This is a genuinely terrible example.

Fisticuffs prevents both buffs and debuffs, so it counters Shang and Valkyrie equally and completely. Not to mention that it prevents 90% of Unstoppable in the game, too.

When it comes to countering Unstoppable, there are valid points on both sides:

- Shang needs to land a debuff, so his Unstoppable counter is susceptible to Masochism nodes, Conflictor nodes, Tenacity and Debuff immunity.
- He can't activate Slow against Mutants.
- His Slow wears off, and needs to be reapplied.
- On the other hand, he can do it straight out of the gate, within two seconds of the match starting. As long as the opponent isn't on Mixmaster.

- To counter Unstoppable at all, Valkyrie needs to be Awakened
- To be really good, she needs to be Sig 200.
- She needs to sustain buffs; so her Unstoppable counter is susceptible to Nullify, Starter, Neutralise, Fate Seal, Buffet nodes; and causes quite the handicap on a Spite node.
- Whilst eleven hits doesn't sound like all that many, Valk can run into trouble doing that with Evade champions; which won't be a problem for Shang.

As to which is better overall, considering their slightly different shrug-off abilities, damage, etc:
Personally, I'd say Shang is more broadly adaptable, and is better out of the box, or if Valkyrie is low Sig. By the time she's Sig 200, I'd say Valkyrie's Sig makes her better, plus the fact that she can bypass some abilities with her playstyle into block, which Shang can't. But there will still be plenty of situations you'd be better off with Shang.

I like Valk more at sig 200, I feel like she counters more. But shang chi is somewhat underused in my roster even though he’s an absolute powerhouse

Spoken like a guy who doesn't know how to use Shang chi.

He can kill most champs in t4 wars, BGs with one sp2.

Valk build up is much longer and she needs 11 hits to counter Unstoppable. Sure she has her use, which is quite different from Shang chi, but I've yet to find content where SC fails miserably and Valk triumphs.

If you have to use valk's heavy in the fight for any reason, you lose her buffs and hence her dmg potential.

SC only increases his dmg as fight goes on, no matter what combos are used.

Shang-chi’s ramp-up IS longer than kingpin and NF..

And Valkyrie doesn’t have a long build up at all. By the time you hit your level 2 you’re good to go.

I have both ranked & val sig 200. Can't really say who is better, because both have very different uses.

For unstoppable counter, i use Val and shangchi when i need to get free openings.
