Opinions on Iphone SE?

I traded my iphone 8 plus for an iphone 11 yesterday. The UI makes the game near unplayable. Sp buttons and striker button only launch 1/2 the time, and the screen stretches all the way to each end of the phone, but everything is smooshed right in the center leaving alot of deadspace at the sides.

Thankfully I can take the phone back and undo the transaction, but I was hoping anyone could recommend a decent iphone. Was thinking about the SE 3rd Gen, as that's pretty new, very affordable, and retains the old screen style of the iphone 8.
Any advice or experience would be very appreciated. Thanks!
