I can also have 4 generic awakening gems so I can awaken any of them if awakening is the issue

    What quest challenge do you have coming up? Choose you ranks ups based on your quest progression. If you have Scorpion, then Agent Venom is your most powerful skill champ on that list with the Kraven/Scorpion synergy.

    Shang-Chi can use an AG... I'm guessing he's already Rank 3.
    Black Widow doesn't involve changing your playstyle to "hit into the block".
    If you don't like focusing your hits almost exclusively into blocks, don't do Valkyrie.
    Falcon can use an AG too. He shuts defenders down like Magneto shuts down #metal champs.
