Returning player need help awakening and r5

So I'm a returning f2p Conquerer who hasn't played in years and only been back for a week. Haven't stepped foot in act 5 yet as it was new content when I played last. I barely know the new metas and bad champs, so who do you guys reckon I should use my awakening gems on and who to prioritize on my upgrades? Thank you, I'll read every comment earnestly.
